Quinta das Lameiras Village

 Figueiró dos Vinhos is a municipality in Leiria District in Portugal situated an hour and a half drive away from Lisbon. It is a small town with beautiful landscapes and rivers, untouched nature and historic monuments that were left by the romans and moors. D. Pedro Afonso, the count of Barcelos and son of the first king of Portugal D. Afonso Henriques, founded the town in 1204. Figueiró was hailed as the “Sintra of the North”, a luxurious retreat for noblemen of the time. The township is thus one of the countries’ oldest municipalities.

Over the years, Figueiró has flourished into a historical patrimony of culture, tradition and leisure as well as art, innovative culinary trends and the fostering of a wide variety of outdoor sports and activities. The towns’ newly built museum ‘Museu e Centro de Artes’ and the art center ‘Casa do Pintor’, built by the artist José Malhoa, both host galleries and events blending the traditional with the modern and providing an ever-changing source of inspiration and intrigue.

The ‘Convento da nossa senhora do Carmo’ is a monastery built in 1601. After anti-clericalism spread though Portugal religious orders were banned, the inquisition was abolished and the church lost most of its property, subsequently the monastery served as a hospital until the mid 19th century and now stands as a historical monument in the town center. The municipal garden and the church of ‘Matriz’ flaunt a variety of architectural influences ranging from the manueline, to the baroque and the romantic periods.

In addition to museums and a wealthy historical and artistic scene, the town of Figueiró has a number of outdoor activities ranging from kayaking, mountain climbing, cycling and off-road, to fishing, swimming, camping and exploring the landscapes, mountains and rivers. Traveling outside of Figueiró will expose a plethora of experiences. The village ‘Aldeia do Xisto’ consists of 23 small houses built in typical fashion with materials found in the region and preserving the architecture and charm of olden times. Figueiró is situated in between Lisbon and Porto while also giving easy access to Coimbra, Leiria, Tomar, Castelo Branco and the stunning Silver Coast displaying the most beautiful beaches and scenery Portugal has to offer.

Within Figueiró is the ‘Quinta das Lameiras Village’, a 25 hectares luxury touristic allotment integrating a low-density urban design with nature.  108 plots of land for individual villas will be built using wood and the typical stone found in the region. The project will include a Boutique Hotel, Health Club with Pool & SPA, a Restaurant, Designed Gardens, and the ‘Maison D´Artiste’, a cultural space dedicated to art, painting, sculpture, cinema, and exhibitions.
